The class was a wonderful combination of our familiar warmups, massage to open different parts of the body and some beautiful moving meditation in the form of Tai-chi. The Tai chi included some balance. All aspects of class flowed from one movement to another.
— Renee
So entirely helpful and encouraging. A healing experience. I’ll be back tomorrow.

Lisa’s class is very laid back, with an emphasis on wellness and on each student finding his or her comfort zone. Consequently, there was no pressure to “perform” and therefore no competition or stress. The atmosphere was supportive, not only from Lisa but from the other class members as well. I enjoyed it immensely and I’m looking forward to my next class!
— James O.

Lisa is a remarkable teacher. As a pedagogue myself, and as a long-time student in various relevant classes, I'd like to say that she is one of the best mentors (in any areas) I've ever met. This morning, I took my first class, and can't wait to attend the next one. Thank you, Lisa!
— Irina

“Lisa, I find your classes leave me feeling relaxed and refreshed. The people in the class seem to have a chemistry that provides a welcoming nature to newcomers. I especially appreciate the fact that you take time and effort to review techniques to insure we execute properly.”
— Michelle D.
“Thank you, Lisa!! The class was so much better than I had hoped it would be! Your warm personality made me feel so comfortable, and your expertise in and presentation of the subject most enlightening!!”

”Thank you Lisa.....just finished your class and it was awesome! I loved your instruction on minor adjustments to the body as we move from one position to another! I applied it more than ever before - the simplicity of relaxing is challenging but boy does it work!!!!! Still need improvement but slowly but surely it feels wonderful.”
— Johanna O.

“An honest gentle qigong and t’ai chi teacher. Concerned and caring for her students.”
— Barbara W.
“Lisa is an amazing instructor and is truly passionate about qigong and Chinese medicine. Lisa not only teaches the physical components of qigong, but gives you an understanding how each exercise works, how it affects and nourishes each organ. This in-depth instruction is rarely taught and shared with students. This allows you to go deeper into your qigong practice and really connect and energize the body on a deeper level. When you finish her five element qigong class you feel calm, focused, and energized, which can have a profound impact in your daily life. If you are looking to make a transformation in both your mind and body, I can’t recommend her classes enough.”
— Eric D.
“Thanks for always explaining why we are doing each movement and how it benefits us. I felt calm all day after the class today! I especially liked how you said “if you are feeling an uncomfortable emotion or feeling bypass it” somehow that word allowed me to do just that! To bypass it for that moment.”
— K.P.
“I have had the opportunity to work with Lisa for a number of years. She is a great teacher who constantly seeks to improve her knowledge, skill and ability. But what makes her truly outstanding is the compassion, understanding and deeply caring that is such a natural part of who she is. She connects with people in a nurturing and supportive way.”
— Chris D.
“This is a great class. The teacher is friendly, welcoming and really knows her stuff. Impressed by her knowledge. Any level would enjoy this class.”

— Chieh D.
“I love the combination of Tai Chi and Qi Gong. I am learning exercises that are helping me with balance, mental stimulation and preventative health. This class is gentle while also providing plenty of movement. Lisa has a kind and informative approach. I highly recommend this class.”
— Rebecca R.
“Lisa Russell is an outstanding martial artist whom I've had the pleasure of working with and learning from for several years. Her knowledge, skills, patience and caring for her students is superb.”
— Margo L.
“I started training martial arts approximately 20 years ago. I was what you would call an aggressive athlete so my martial arts instructor suggested I attend a Tai Chi class to reduce my stress and hone my mental connection to the art. That is when I met Lisa who was my 1st Tai chi instructor. Her relaxing approach and extensive knowledge of all aspects of Tai Chi and Chi Gung I was hooked. I went on to be instructor level and I have had many instructors over the years but if the pleasure to attend one of Lisa’s classes arise I will not miss the opportunity.”
— Mitchell S.
“I have found Lisa’s class to be very beneficial to me in ways I didn’t even anticipate. I’m a middle aged woman who has never been athletic and does not exercise at all on a regular basis – in fact it’s my least favorite thing to do and I’ll find any excuse not to. But of course age and a sedentary work life catch up with you eventually and you gradually feel the aches and pains of not really taking care of yourself physically and soon those aches and pains are with you on a daily basis even interfering with sleep. And so I decided to try something that didn’t seem like it would be too hard for me and maybe that way I would stick with it. And that’s part of what’s so great about Lisa’s classes – they don’t feel like work! The effort is so minimal that frankly, I didn’t think it would produce any results. But boy was I wrong! After taking just the first class I felt both energized and less anxious. And most of my body’s usual mild aches and pains were reduced or eliminated. Lisa is a kind, empathetic and generous teacher who explains everything she’s showing you and asking you do to. There’s no pressure – just gentle encouragement to do the best you can and let the work help you feel better. Now, I actually look forward to classes with Lisa! Highly recommend!”
— Melissa H.
“"That was amazing!!! Thank you Lisa Russell. Not feeling so great and did the whole exercise sitting in a chair. Totally same effect as standing. Relaxed and ready to rest.”
— Nancy T.
“I attended several of Lisa's Qi Gong classes and I found them to be very helpful. Lisa seems very well informed and knowledgeable with the techniques used and I actually felt immediate physical improvements. What I loved most about Lisa way of teaching the classes is that she describes the motions in simple ways for me to understand and be able to achieve the exact position needed. One of the examples that I remember is how she compared some motions to the motions used by Mr. Miagi in the movie Karate Kid. She certainly has a way to bring smiles to our faces while taking the class. But, most importantly, Lisa explains how each movement and the effects it has on the body organs. This made me even more interested in the class since I knew the benefits.”
— Arleen M.
“You will not go wrong with Lisa as your Tai Chi or Qi Gong instructor. I have been a student of Tai Chi and Qi Gong for many years. Studying with Lisa during the Covid crisis has helped me take my practice to a new level and improve my overall health. I feel younger than I have in years! I highly recommend taking a class with Lisa. Her depth of knowledge and passion for the Internal Arts will have you hooked.”
Jeanette M.
“Lisa’s instructions are easy to understand, even for a for a beginner like myself. Lisa’s style is not intimidating and she is always open to questions. This is the first time I have tried Tai Chi and her gentle style allowed me to practice despite a recent injury.”
— Andrea G.
“Lisa has the innate ability and patience to guide students of any level toward experiencing the many benefits of Qi Gong. Her classes are fun, thorough and informative. Highly recommended!”
— Lisa C.
“I have never taken a martial arts class before. I have a lot of experience with yoga, boxing, swim/bike/run and many other formats but none with Qi Gong. Lisa Russell is a natural instructor, taking you through a routine from beginning to end, regardless of experience level, as a personal journey, familiarizing you with what may be hundreds of years of tradition rather seamlessly. She has a practical and light-hearted approach to training that leaves you wanting more. When I finished her class I wanted to learn about the discipline and see where I could go with it. I highly recommend Lisa Russell's classes to beginners or experienced practitioners.”
— Susan D.
“Lisa is a Wonderful Teacher! I really enjoyed her class along with the other folks on Zoom tuning in for a great, relaxing session for mind and body. Lisa has studied her art for years and shares her soul with you through the movements she demonstrates. I really enjoyed myself.
— Steven D.
“Lisa Russell is well trained and it shows. She flows through the class effortlessly, engaging with participants in a natural manner. I felt right at home even though I’m new to Qi Gong. I have a whole new appreciation for the grace and beauty of the discipline!”
